The purpose of the South Bethlehem Historical Society is to preserve and make known the Second Chapter of Bethlehem's History (1850 - on) by focusing on the individuals, ethnic groups and material evidence which helped make possible the industrialization of South Bethlehem
S.B.H.S. was incorporated in 1985 by Joan Campion, Adrienne Redd, Magdalena F. Szabo, John W. Trotter, Jr. Bernice R. Trotter, and Helene Whitaker.

The doors of eleven ethnic churches are depicted in color.
In 2008, the Allentown Diocese closed four Roman Catholic ethnic churches in South
Bethlehem: St. Stanislaus, St. Joseph, St. John Capistrano, and Our Lady of Pompeii.
The Society offers four bookmarks featuring a brief history of these churches on the
back. 
Published in 2010, this 127-page book features over 200 black and white photographs
on the history of South Bethlehem, by Kenneth F. Raniere and Karen Samuels with South
Bethlehem Historical Society.
This lavishly illustrated 270-page book features original architectural drawings
from Leh’s own studio. Historical and contemporary black and white photography by John
Kish IV and Robert Walsh, document for the first time the oeuvre of Albert Wolfring
Leh, South Bethlehem architect. From 1880-1918, Leh designed some of the most significant
academic, commercial, ecclesiastical and residential structures in Bethlehem and elsewhere
in the region and neighboring states.
